    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Central County Water Control
    3         District, Hendry County; amending chapter 2000-415,
    4         Laws of Florida; correcting the legal description of
    5         the boundaries of the district; providing an effective
    6         date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Section 1 of section 3 of chapter 2000-415, Laws
   11  of Florida, is amended to read:
   12         Section 3. The Central County Water Control District is re
   13  created as an independent special water control district and the
   14  charter for such district is re-created and reenacted to read:
   15         Section 1. District created; boundaries; validation.—
   16         (a) For the purpose of reclamation, drainage, irrigation,
   17  water control, and development of lands hereinafter described
   18  and to protect said lands from the effects of water by means of
   19  the construction and maintenance of canals, ditches, levees,
   20  dikes, pumping plants, and other drainage, irrigation, and water
   21  control works and improvements, and to make the lands within
   22  said district available and habitable for settlement and
   23  agriculture, and for the public convenience, welfare, utility
   24  and benefit, and for the other purposes stated in this act a
   25  drainage district is hereby created and established in Hendry
   26  County to be known as the Central County Water Control District,
   27  the territorial boundaries of which shall be as follows:
   28         Sections 13, 14, 15, the West 1/2 of Section 18,
   29         Sections 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27, the North 1/2 of
   30         Section 34 except the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of said
   31         Section 34 and all of Sections 35 and 36 in Township
   32         44 South, Range 32 East; and all of Sections 19, 29,
   33         30, 31, 32, and a portion of Section 7 described as
   34         that portion of The Woodland Subdivision recorded in
   35         Plat Book 4, Page 1 of the Public Records of Hendry
   36         County, Florida, in Township 44 South, Range 33 East
   37         in Hendry County, Florida.
   38         (b) It is hereby determined, declared, and enacted that
   39  said lands in their present condition are wet and subject to
   40  overflow, and at times subject to drought, and that the
   41  drainage, irrigation, water control, reclamation, and protection
   42  of said lands from the effects of water, and thereby the making
   43  of said lands available for agricultural and settlement purposes
   44  by drainage, irrigation, water control, reclamation, and
   45  improvement, and the creation of said district with the powers
   46  vested in it by this act, are in the interest of and conducive
   47  to public welfare, health, and convenience.
   48         (c) The proceedings had in the circuit court of Hendry
   49  County in the cause styled “In re: Central County Drainage
   50  District,” being Case No. 68-14, wherein a judgment was entered
   51  on February 6, 1968, creating Central County Drainage District
   52  under the provisions of chapter 298, Florida Statutes, known as
   53  the general drainage law, and a judgment extending the
   54  boundaries of said district which was entered on April 10, 1970,
   55  are hereby validated, ratified, approved, and confirmed.
   56         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
