    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the Florida Guardian ad Litem
    3         Program for its commitment and many years of service
    4         representing the dependent children of this state.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program’s sole
    7  mission is to represent the best interests of abused and
    8  neglected children involved in dependency court proceedings, and
    9         WHEREAS, for more than 30 years, the Florida Guardian ad
   10  Litem Program has provided independent advocacy for hundreds of
   11  thousands of dependent children in this state, and
   12         WHEREAS, the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program coordinates
   13  and oversees the work of nearly 8,000 volunteers, and
   14         WHEREAS, studies have shown that children in the dependency
   15  system have greatly benefited from participation in the Florida
   16  Guardian ad Litem Program, with volunteers not only serving in
   17  an advocacy role, but also serving as educational surrogates,
   18  and
   19         WHEREAS, each year volunteers with the Florida Guardian ad
   20  Litem Program donate time, services, and support worth millions
   21  of dollars to this state and provide an invaluable service to
   22  dependency court judges, and
   23         WHEREAS, the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program strives to
   24  achieve permanency for children in the dependency system and has
   25  played a key role in making this state the national leader in
   26  adoption, NOW, THEREFORE,

   28  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   29  
   30         That the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is commended for
   31  its many years of service representing the best interests of
   32  Florida’s dependent children.
