    1                       Senate Joint Resolution                     
    2         A joint resolution proposing the creation of Section
    3         33 of Article X of the State Constitution to prohibit
    4         the state or its political subdivisions from placing
    5         and operating traffic infraction detectors for
    6         specified purposes.

    8  Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         That the following creation of Section 33 of Article X of
   11  the State Constitution is agreed to and shall be submitted to
   12  the electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next
   13  general election or at an earlier special election specifically
   14  authorized by law for that purpose:
   15                              ARTICLE X                            
   16                            MISCELLANEOUS                          
   17         SECTION 33. Prohibition on traffic infraction detectors.
   18  The state or a political subdivision thereof is prohibited from
   19  placing and operating traffic infraction detectors used for the
   20  purpose of detecting when a driver of a motor vehicle fails to
   21  stop at a traffic signal. This prohibition does not apply to the
   22  placement and operation of traffic infraction detectors on
   23  portions of roadways established as school speed zones.
   24         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be
   25  placed on the ballot:
   26                      CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT                     
   27                        ARTICLE X, SECTION 33                      
   28         PROHIBITION ON TRAFFIC INFRACTION DETECTORS.—Proposing an
   29  amendment to the State Constitution to prohibit the state or its
   30  political subdivisions from placing and operating traffic
   31  infraction detectors for detecting when drivers of motor
   32  vehicles fail to stop at traffic signals, with the exception of
   33  portions of roadways established as school speed zones.
