    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to bicycle ways; amending s. 335.065,
    3         F.S.; requiring the installation of solar-powered, in
    4         road lights in certain bicycle ways that are
    5         established in, or within a specified radius of, an
    6         urban area; providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section
   11  335.065, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         335.065 Bicycle and pedestrian ways along state roads and
   13  transportation facilities.—
   14         (1)(a) Bicycle and pedestrian ways shall be given full
   15  consideration in the planning and development of transportation
   16  facilities, including the incorporation of such ways into state,
   17  regional, and local transportation plans and programs. Bicycle
   18  and pedestrian ways shall be established in conjunction with the
   19  construction, reconstruction, or other change of any state
   20  transportation facility, and special emphasis shall be given to
   21  projects in, or within a 1-mile radius 1 mile of, an urban area.
   22  Solar-powered, in-road lights must be installed in all bicycle
   23  ways that are established on or after July 1, 2016, in, or
   24  within a 1-mile radius of, an urban area in conjunction with the
   25  construction, reconstruction, or other change of any state
   26  transportation facility.
   27         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2016.
