    2         A resolution to congratulate Tampa General Hospital’s
    3         Advanced Organ Disease and Transplantation Institute
    4         on the occasion of its 10,000th transplant.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, Tampa General Hospital is a 1,007-bed, nonprofit
    7  academic medical center that delivers world-class care, and
    8         WHEREAS, Tampa General Hospital is the only center in its
    9  region which offers Level I trauma care and comprehensive burn
   10  care, and
   11         WHEREAS, Tampa General Hospital is the primary teaching
   12  hospital for the University of South Florida Health Morsani
   13  College of Medicine, and
   14         WHEREAS, transplant services are a vital part of Tampa
   15  General Hospital’s mission to provide world-class care to
   16  residents of the Tampa Bay area and beyond, and
   17         WHEREAS, Tampa General Hospital performs adult heart, lung,
   18  liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants, including kidney
   19  pancreas transplants, kidney transplants from living donors, and
   20  pediatric kidney transplants, and
   21         WHEREAS, Tampa General Hospital performed its first
   22  transplant, a kidney transplant, in 1974, and in 1985 performed
   23  the first successful heart transplant in this state, and
   24         WHEREAS, on September 30, 2018, Tampa General Hospital
   25  performed its 10,000th transplant, providing a kidney to a
   26  patient from the Fort Myers area, and
   27         WHEREAS, Tampa General Hospital continues to advance
   28  medicine through innovation, NOW, THEREFORE,

   30  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

   32         That Tampa General Hospital’s Advanced Organ Disease and
   33  Transplantation Institute is congratulated on the occasion of
   34  its 10,000th transplant.
