    2         An act relating to animal cruelty; creating s.
    3         828.127, F.S.; prohibiting the malicious or capricious
    4         killing of dogs or cats; providing penalties;
    5         providing an effective date.

    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8  
    9         Section 1. Section 828.127, Florida Statutes, is created to
   10  read:
   11         828.127 Malicious or capricious killing of a dog or cat.
   12  Any person who maliciously or capriciously kills a dog or cat
   13  commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in
   14  s. 775.082 or by a fine of not more than $10,000, or both.
   15         Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2018.
