House Resolution
2A resolution commending Florida's police and other law
3enforcement officers for their service and commitment to
4protecting the citizens of the state on the occasion of
5National Police Day and National Police Week.

7     WHEREAS, the men and women of law enforcement who dedicate
8their careers to our safety do so at great risk to their lives
9and at the expense of long hours away from their families, and
10     WHEREAS, regardless of the continuing danger and long
11hours, day after day and year after year, these dedicated
12professionals continue to make sacrifices for their communities,
13without asking for thanks or praise, and
14     WHEREAS, in 1962, as a special recognition to honor the
15service of law enforcement officers nationwide and to pay
16special recognition to those who have given their lives in the
17line of duty for the safety and protection of others, President
18John F. Kennedy established May 15th as National Police Officers
19Memorial Day and the calendar week during which that day falls
20as National Police Week, which have been recognized as a time
21for gratitude and remembrance for nearly 50 years now and this
22year are observed from May 15-21, and
23     WHEREAS, the law enforcement officers who serve our
24communities deserve our unwavering support and our thankful
25recognition on the occasion of such observances, NOW, THEREFORE,

27Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28Florida:

30     That Florida's police and other law enforcement officers
31are commended on the occasion of National Police Day and
32National Police Week for their service to our communities and
33their steadfast dedication to the protection of the citizens of
34the State of Florida.
