11 | Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
12 | |
13 | That the following creation of Section 28 of Article X of |
14 | the State Constitution is agreed to and shall be submitted to |
15 | the electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next |
16 | general election or at an earlier special election specifically |
17 | authorized by law for that purpose: |

20 | SECTION 28. Naming of public buildings and other |
21 | facilities.- |
22 | (a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, a |
23 | publicly owned building, road, bridge, park, recreational |
24 | complex, or other similar facility may not be named for any |
25 | person who has not been deceased for at least five years. |
26 | (b) A publicly owned building, road, bridge, park, |
27 | recreational complex, or other similar facility may be named for |
28 | a living person or a person who has been deceased for less than |
29 | five years if the name designation is approved by a four-fifths |
30 | vote of the governmental body enacting the designation; however, |
31 | such a facility may not be named for a public officer while that |
32 | person is in public office. |
33 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be |
34 | placed on the ballot: |

37 | NAMING OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES.-Proposing an |
38 | amendment to the State Constitution that prohibits naming a |
39 | publicly owned building, road, bridge, park, recreational |
40 | complex, or other similar facility after a person who has not |
41 | been deceased for at least 5 years unless approved by a four- |
42 | fifths vote of the governing body naming the building or |
43 | facility, except that no such building or facility may be named |
44 | after a public officer while that person is in office. |
