Florida Senate - 2017 COMMITTEE AMENDMENT Bill No. SB 1362 Ì233884FÎ233884 LEGISLATIVE ACTION Senate . House . . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Education (Broxson) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 150 - 191 4 and insert: 5 (PSAT/NMSQT), or the PreACTAct Aspireto all enrolled 10th 6 grade students. However, a written notice shall be provided to 7 each parent which mustthat shallinclude the opportunity to 8 exempt his or her child from taking the PSAT/NMSQT or the PreACT 9ACT Aspire. 10 (a) Test results will provide each high school with a 11 database of student assessment data which certified school 12 counselors will use to identify students who are prepared or who 13 need additional work to be prepared to enroll and be successful 14 in AP courses or other advanced high school courses. 15 (b) Funding for the PSAT/NMSQT or the PreACTACT Aspirefor 16 all 10th grade students shall be contingent upon annual funding 17 in the General Appropriations Act. 18 (c) Public school districts must choose either the 19 PSAT/NMSQT or the PreACTACT Aspirefor districtwide 20 administration. 21 (6) The partnership shall: 22 (j) Provide information to students, parents, teachers, 23 counselors, administrators, districts, Florida College System 24 institutions, and state universities regarding PSAT/NMSQT or the 25 PreACTACT Aspireadministration, including but not limited to: 26 1. Test administration dates and times. 27 2. That participation in the PSAT/NMSQT or the PreACTACT28Aspireis open to all 10th grade students. 29 3. The value of such tests in providing diagnostic feedback 30 on student skills. 31 4. The value of student scores in predicting the 32 probability of success on AP or other advanced course 33 examinations. 34 (8)(a) By September 30 of each year, the partnership shall 35 submit to the department a report that contains an evolution of 36 the effectiveness of the delivered services and activities. 37 Activities and services must be evaluated on their effectiveness 38 at raising student achievement and increasing the number of AP 39 or other advanced course examinations in low-performing middle 40 and high schools. Other indicators that must be addressed in the 41 evaluation report include the number of middle and high school 42 teachers trained; the effectiveness of the training; measures of 43 postsecondary readiness of the students affected by the program; 44 levels of participation in the 10th grade PSAT/NMSQT or the 45 PreACTACT Aspiretesting; and measures of student, parent, 46 47 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 48 And the title is amended as follows: 49 Delete line 32 50 and insert: 51 include the PreACT, rather than the ACT
