DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF MAY 4, 2014 TO MAY 10, 2014 AS NATIONAL CHARTER SCHOOL WEEK |
WHEREAS, public charter schools are an integral part of Delaware's public school system; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 21 public charter schools in Delaware educating over 11, 000 students; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools are instrumental in improving the educational achievements of students attending those schools through innovation and excellence in standards; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools offer Delaware students an opportunity to participate in specialized courses of instruction that challenges all students to reach their potential for academic success; and
WHEREAS, the creation of Delaware public charter schools resulted in an increase in the participation of parents and students in the education system; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools promote the principles of quality, accountability, choice, and innovation.
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 147th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein that the week of May 4, 2014 to May 10, 2014 be designated as National Charter School Week and that Delaware's public charter schools are hereby commended for their role in improving Delaware's public education system and enhancing their students' academic achievements.
