DELAWARE STATE SENATE

146th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE BILL NO. 71

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 4 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO REGULATORY PROVISIONS GOVERNING LICENSES.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1.Amend §709(b), Title 4 of the Delaware Code by deleting therefrom the words "9:00 a.m." and substituting in their place the words "8:00 a.m.".

Section 2.Amend §709(c), Title 4 of the Delaware Code by deleting "9:00 a.m." and substituting in lieu thereof "8:00 a.m.".

Section 3.Amend §709(d), Title 4 of the Delaware Code by deleting therefrom the words "Thanksgiving Day"

Section 4.Amend §709(h), Title 4 of the Delaware Code by deleting therefrom the words "12:00 noon" and substituting in their place the words "10:00 a.m.".


SYNOPSIS

This Bill continues the process of updating the Liquor Control Act to make it more modern and consumer-friendly.Section 1 and Section 2 allow package stores to open at 8:00 a.m., instead of 9:00 a.m. on days other than Sundays.Section 3 allows package stores to be open if they wish on Thanksgiving Day.Section 4 allows package stores to open at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays instead of noon.All of these changes reflect consumer demand for convenient shopping hours.
