SENATE BILL NO. 205

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 13 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO PLACEMENT FOR ADOPTION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend § 904, Title 13 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§ 904. Placement and supervision for adoption.

(f) A former foster parent of the child must be considered a preferential placement option, where appropriate, when a child who was formerly placed with the foster parent is placed for adoption less than 13 months after the end of the foster placement.

SYNOPSIS

This Act requires that a former foster parent of a child be considered a preferential placement option for a child when the child is placed for adoption less than 13 months after the end of the foster placement.
