HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 44

RECOGNIZING JULY 18, 2012, AS THE INAUGURAL DELAWARE CULTURE CHANGE COALITION'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE.



WHEREAS, the inaugural conference will occur on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, to provide awareness and foster partnerships in Delaware regarding culture change in long term care settings; and

WHEREAS, throughout Delaware there are over 7,000 long term care residents; and

WHEREAS, research indicates that public education events like this Culture Change Conference are vital for raising awareness, and motivating action which promotes positive change; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Culture Change Coalition currently comprises volunteers who with a multi-disciplinary approach promote fundamental changes in values and practices in long term care facilities; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Culture Change Coalition is establishing meaningful daily living activities and comfortable environments for residents in long term care facilities; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Culture Change Coalition has adopted the National Pioneer Network's philosophy of transformative cultural change in long term care; and

WHEREAS, the objective is to de-institutionalize care, and create a resident-directed approach in all aspects of long term care; and

WHEREAS, the General Assembly deems it appropriate to recognize July 18, 2012, as the inaugural conference of the Delaware Culture Change Coalition.

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that July 18, 2012, is hereby recognized as the inaugural Delaware Culture Change Conference.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all Delawareans are urged to take an opportunity to learn more about transforming the culture of long term residential care.


SYNOPSIS

This House Concurrent Resolution recognizes July 18, 2012, as the date of the Delaware Culture Change inaugural Conference which will be an annual event of the Delaware Culture Change Coalition.
