HOUSE BILL NO. 278

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 16 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE POSTING IN SCHOOLS OF INFORMATION RELATED TO CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1. Amend Chapter 9, Title 16 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline:

§905. Telephone reports, Child Protection Registry and information.

(g) All schools in this state shall post the number for the toll-free telephone report line established pursuant to this section in a conspicuous location where notices to students are customarily posted. The posting shall be made in English and Spanish and shall be made in a format and language that is clear, simple, and understandable to students.

Section 2. This Act shall be effective 60 days after its enactment into law.


SYNOPSIS

This bill requires schools to post the toll-free telephone report line number for child abuse and neglect in a conspicuous location, where it may be viewed by students.  Currently the number is 1-800-292-9582.
