HOUSE BILL NO. 24

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 25 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE LANDLORD TENANT CODE.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1.Amend §5102(4), Title 25 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

(4) Nonrenewable rental agreements of 120 days or less for any calendar year for a dwelling located within the boundaries of Broadkill Hundred, Lewes-Rehoboth Hundred, Indian River Hundred, and Baltimore Hundred and Cedar Creek Hundred.


SYNOPSIS

Under this section of the Landlord Tenant Code, there is an exemption that is created for vacation rentals along some of Delaware's beaches that permits homeowners to rent their homes for a period of 120 days or less without being subject to the restrictions created in the Landlord Tenant Code.This change will add the Cedar Creek Hundred to the list of locations that may qualify for this exemption, thereby including rentals in Slaughter Beach.
