Summary
The federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV) requires that certain activities related to career and technical education be carried out by the State’s “eligible agency”; however, under current Delaware law, it is unclear what entity meets the federal requirements. This legislation clarifies that the State Board of Education is the “eligible agency” and sole agency responsible for the supervision of administration of career and technical education for the purposes of Perkins IV. The language reflects input from the U.S. Department of Education to comply with Perkins IV.
Title
An Act To Amend Title 14 Of The Delaware Code Relating To The Powers And Duties Of The State Board Of Education And Career Technical Education.
