AN ACT CONCERNING THE LIMITATION OF TIME FOR BRINGING A CIVIL ACTION FOR DAMAGES BY A VICTIM OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 52-577d of the general statutes be amended to provide that an action to recover damages for personal injury to a minor caused by sexual abuse, sexual exploitation or sexual assault that occurs on or after the effective date of this act may be brought at any time, with regard to any statute of limitation.
Statement of Purpose:
To eliminate the limitation of time for bringing a civil action with respect to a new occurrence of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation or sexual assault in order to recognize the severity of such occurrences and give victims increased access to the civil court system.
