AN ACT CONCERNING RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SCHOOL NURSE ADVISORY COUNCIL.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10-212 of the general statutes be amended to (1) require local and regional boards of education to maintain a staffing ratio of one school nurse or nurse practitioner for each seven hundred fifty students, (2) permit a school nurse or nurse practitioner to provide services to one or more local or regional boards of education as long as the staffing ratio requirement is met, and (3) require school nurses and nurse practitioners to complete the school nurse orientation program offered by the State Department of Education and the Association of School Nurses of Connecticut not later than one year after being hired by a local or regional board of education and meet the educational requirements and other qualifications specified in regulations adopted by the State Board of Education.
Statement of Purpose:
To adopt the recommendations of the School Nurse Advisory Council.
