AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTIES FOR STRAW PURCHASES OF FIREARMS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 29-37j of the general statutes be amended to enhance the penalties for any person who purchases a firearm with the intent to transfer such firearm to another person who the transferor knows or has reason to believe is prohibited from purchasing or possessing such firearm.
Statement of Purpose:
To strengthen the state's law against the "straw purchase" of firearms in the interest of public safety.
