AN ACT CONCERNING UNFUNDED MANDATES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require a vote of two-thirds of the members of the General Assembly to enact an unfunded mandate on municipalities. Additionally, all existing unfunded mandates shall be sunset as of June 1, 2011, unless reauthorized by a two-thirds vote of all members of the General Assembly.

Statement of Purpose:

To offer property tax relief to residents by sunsetting unfunded mandates and making it more difficult to enact them in the future.
