AN ACT ELIMINATING OVERVOTING FOR A CANDIDATE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 9-242 of the general statutes be amended to require that, in the event a candidate is cross endorsed and an elector casts more than one vote for such candidate on a ballot (1) any voting tabulator approved by the Secretary of the State shall not accept such ballot, and (2) the elector shall be given a new ballot for the purpose of casting such elector's vote.
Statement of Purpose:
To eliminate overvoting and the attribution of unknown votes for cross-endorsed candidates.
