AN ACT ESTABLISHING STATE MEDICAL LOSS RATIOS FOR INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES AND GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES ISSUED TO A SMALL EMPLOYER.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to require that (1) each individual health insurance policy have a state medical loss ratio of not less than eighty per cent, and (2) each group health insurance policy issued to a small employer have a state medical loss ratio of not less than eighty-five per cent.

Statement of Purpose:

To establish state medical loss ratios for individual health insurance policies and group health insurance policies issued to small employers.
