AN ACT CONCERNING ENERGY AND TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2010) For a period not to exceed three years, the Department of Public Utility Control shall contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to determine how best to (1) help Connecticut reduce energy consumption, promote the use of renewable energy sources, develop a diversified energy supply portfolio, improve market mechanisms and facilitate the introduction and adoption of advanced technologies that will help plan for and respond to uncertainties in the energy markets, and (2) create such an entity in this state.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
Section 1	July 1, 2010	New section

Statement of Purpose:

To require the Department of Public Utility Control to consult with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority with regard to its programs and establishing such an entity in this state.
