AN ACT CONCERNING PROMPT PAYMENT OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION CLAIMS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to increase the monetary penalty levied against insurers that unreasonably delay the payment of workers' compensation benefits owed to eligible employees.

Statement of Purpose:

To encourage prompt payment of workers' compensation claims by increasing the penalty levied against insurers that unreasonably delay the payment of workers' compensation benefits to eligible employees.
