AN ACT CONCERNING THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 18 of the general statutes be amended to revise the mission statement of the Department of Correction to place a greater emphasis on the rehabilitation of inmates including, but not limited to, the provision of substance abuse treatment and educational and vocational training.
Statement of Purpose:
To focus more on the correctional and rehabilitative components of incarceration as contrasted with the custodial component.
