AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDINGS BY INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2015) Any independent institution of higher education that holds a college level class or otherwise provides instruction to students of the institution of higher education in a public school building, under the jurisdiction of a local or regional board of education or the State Board of Education, shall reimburse the owner of such public school building, for any expenses incurred by such owner in hosting such class or instruction in such public school building.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To require independent institutions of higher education to reimburse a municipality or the state for the cost incurred by the municipality or the state for holding a college level class at a public school owned by the municipality or the state.
