AN ACT REQUIRING EMPLOYERS TO ALLOW VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND AMBULANCE PERSONNEL TO RESPOND TO EMERGENCY CALLS DURING WORK HOURS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require employers to allow volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance personnel to respond to calls during the work day. The employer would not be required to pay the employee for any time missed by the employee while responding to the emergency.

Statement of Purpose:

To increase the number of volunteer firefighters and ambulance personnel who can respond to emergency calls during the work day.
