AN ACT AUTHORIZING LICENSED VETERINARIANS TO EUTHANIZE INJURED WILDLIFE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 26-86 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2012):
(a) Any deer, moose or black bear killed or seriously wounded as the result of a collision with a motor vehicle may, after inspection of such deer, moose or black bear by the local police authorities, state police or conservation officer and after issuance of a copy of a wildlife kill incident report, become the property of the operator of such motor vehicle or any other person if such operator declines possession.
(b) The Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection may authorize any veterinarian licensed pursuant to chapter 384 to humanely euthanize any deer, moose, black bear or other wildlife seriously wounded as the result of a collision with a motor vehicle. The commissioner may prescribe the process for such authorization and may adopt regulations, in accordance with chapter 54, to implement the provisions of this subsection.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

To authorize licensed veterinarians to humanely euthanize certain wildlife when such wildlife is seriously injured as the result of a collision with a motor vehicle.
