AN ACT REQUIRING THE PAYMENT OF CERTAIN PARKING FEES BY INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2014) (a) Any insured covered under an individual or group health insurance policy providing coverage of the type specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes may seek reimbursement with the issuer of such policy for parking fees, in excess of one hundred fifty dollars in a policy year, incurred by such insured that are related to the receipt of a covered service or treatment.

(b) The Insurance Commissioner shall adopt regulations in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 of the general statutes to specify the records such issuers may require of an insured seeking such reimbursement and the maximum reimbursement amount an insured may seek in a policy year.

(c) Upon the effective date of such regulations, each issuer of such insurance policy shall establish a reimbursement process for such parking fees and develop a reimbursement form, and shall notify each insured of such process and form.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

To require health insurance companies to cover parking fees in excess of one hundred fifty dollars in a policy year that are incurred by an insured and related to the receipt of a covered service or treatment.
