AN ACT CONCERNING PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE RATE INCREASE REQUESTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to require the Insurance Department to hold a public hearing for long-term care insurance premium rate increase requests greater than ten per cent and to require policyholders be sent advance notice of such increase request and hearing.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow for public input when insurance companies request a long-term care insurance premium increase of greater than ten per cent.
