AN ACT CONCERNING ATTORNEY FEE AGREEMENTS IN MUNICIPAL TAX APPEALS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That sections 12-117a and 12-119 of the general statutes be amended to provide that no person may be represented in a municipal tax appeal by an attorney or combination of attorneys on a contingent fee basis that includes an agreement calling for an aggregate fee of more than twenty per cent of any court ordered or informal reduction in taxes collected from the person as a result of such appeal.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure fairness in the tax appeal process.
