AN ACT CONCERNING THE SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT AT NATHAN HALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN ENFIELD.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That, notwithstanding the provisions of subparagraph (A) of subdivision (3) of subsection (a) of section 10-283 of the general statutes, or any regulation adopted by the State Board of Education or the Department of Administrative Services requiring any town or regional school district to refund to the state the unamortized balance of any school building project grant if the town or regional school district abandons, sells, leases, demolishes or otherwise redirects the use of the school that was the subject of such grant to other than a public school during the twenty-year amortization period of the grant, the town of Enfield shall not be responsible for refunding to the state the unamortized balance of the school building project grant received for the Nathan Hale Elementary School in Enfield.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow the town of Enfield to not be required to refund any remaining school building project grant money paid to the town for the Nathan Hale Elementary School building project when such school closes at the end of the school year.
