AN ACT CONCERNING INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION BY HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 170 of the general statutes be amended to (1) prevent a local or regional board of education from denying a student who is home-schooled from participating in an interscholastic sports program offered by the school district, and (2) require local and regional boards of education to adopt standards for academic eligibility and residency for such home-schooled students that are consistent with the provisions of the Constitution of the state of Connecticut regarding home-schooling.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide equal access to interscholastic athletics for students who are home-schooled.
