AN ACT CONCERNING THE PENALTIES FOR PERMITTING UNDERAGE DRINKING.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 14-111e of the general statutes be amended to require the suspension for a period of ninety days of the driver's license of any person who violates section 30-89a of the general statutes by, while in possession or control of private property, including a dwelling unit (1) knowingly, recklessly or with criminal negligence permits a minor to illegally possess alcohol on the property or in the unit, or (2) fails to make reasonable efforts to stop a minor from possessing alcohol on the property or in the unit, when such person knows the minor possesses alcohol illegally.

Statement of Purpose:

To increase the penalties for someone who allows minors to possess alcohol on their property.
