AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL SYSTEM TO ESTABLISH A DIVISION OF POSTSECONDARY VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR PURPOSES OF AVIATION MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS OFFERED AT TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOLS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2017) (a) There is established a division of postsecondary vocational programs within the technical high school system. The division shall be responsible for the provision of educational programs beyond secondary education in aviation maintenance programs and any other program deemed necessary by the technical high school system board. Any student admitted for enrollment in an aviation maintenance program or other such program shall have a high school diploma or its equivalent, or be over twenty-one years of age.

(b) Any technical high school that offers an aviation maintenance program or any other program deemed necessary by the technical high school system board shall be considered a postsecondary vocational institution for the limited purpose of offering such aviation maintenance program or other such program and for purposes of 34 CFR 600.6, as amended from time to time. Such aviation maintenance program or other such program shall be considered an educational program beyond secondary education for purposes of 34 CFR 600.9(a)(1)(i)(A), as amended from time to time.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
