AN ACT CONCERNING THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 814c of the general statutes be amended to: (1) Permit the presiding officer of a commission hearing to order nonmonetary sanctions if a party to the hearing fails to comply with an order to produce records, papers or documents; (2) allow commission legal counsel to intervene as a matter of right in any suit or other proceeding in which civil or human rights are at issue; and (3) implement reforms that expedite the scheduling of hearings conducted by the commission.
Statement of Purpose:
To implement reforms that alleviate the backlog of cases at the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and to permit commission legal counsel to intervene as a matter of right in any suit or other proceeding in which civil or human rights are at issue.
