AN ACT ALLOWING ACCESS TO EMERGENCY MEDICINE FOR CHILDREN WITH EPILEPSY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-212a be amended to allow a school nurse and a school medical advisor to jointly approve and provide general supervision to an identified school paraprofessional to administer antiepileptic medication to a student for prompt treatment of the student's epilepsy pursuant to a written order of a specific medical professional and the student's parent or guardian

Statement of Purpose:

To enable nonmedical professionals, with oversight and training by the appropriate medical professionals, to administer life-saving medication to children in certain settings and circumstances.
