AN ACT EXPANDING THE "MOVE OVER" LAW FOR VOLUNTEER FIRST RESPONDERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 14-283 of the general statutes be amended to require that upon the immediate approach of an emergency vehicle operated by volunteer firefighters or emergency medical personnel with flashing blue or green lights and an audible warning signal device, a motor vehicle operator shall drive to a position parallel to the right-hand edge or curb of the roadway until such emergency vehicle has passed.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow volunteer first responders to respond to an emergency call in a quick and safe manner.
