AN ACT EXPANDING ELIGIBILITY FOR NUMBER PLATES, MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR'S LICENSES AND IDENTITY CARDS REFLECTING THE HOLDER'S STATUS AS A VETERAN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That sections 14-20b and 14-36h of the general statutes be amended to allow any person who served in the Connecticut National Guard or a reserve component of any branch of the armed forces, regardless of whether such person had active service in the armed forces, to obtain (1) a special certificate of registration and a set of number plates indicating such person's status as a veteran, and (2) a motor vehicle operator's license or identity card indicating such person's status as a veteran.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow any person who served in the Connecticut National Guard or a reserve component of any branch of the armed forces, regardless of whether such person had active duty service, to obtain a set of number plates and a motor vehicle operator's license or identity card indicating such person's status as a veteran.
