AN ACT CONCERNING FEE WAIVERS ASSOCIATED WITH SERVICE OF PROCESS AND THE APPOINTMENT OF COUNSEL FOR CHILDREN IN FAMILY MATTERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 815 of the general statutes be amended to authorize a clerk of the court to: (1) Approve fee waivers related to service of process or the appointment of counsel for children in family matters and then notify counsel and the parties of such appointment; and (2) upon the request of an applicant whose initial application for a fee waiver is denied, schedule a hearing on the fee waiver application.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow a clerk of the court to authorize certain fee waiver applications.
