AN ACT CONCERNING APPOINTMENT OF A REGISTRAR OF VOTERS IN THE CASE OF A VACANCY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 9-192 of the general statutes be amended to eliminate the provisions allowing for an automatic succession of a registrar and to give the town committee the power to appoint a replacement in all cases, not just in cases when the deputy registrar refuses or fails to succeed the principal.
Statement of Purpose:
To modify the process by which town committees fill vacancies in the office of registrar.
