AN ACT CONCERNING STUDENT NEXUS DETERMINATIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 17a-16a of the general statutes be amended to require the Department of Children and Families to make determinations regarding a student's nexus based on such student's current residency and to increase the amount that the Department of Children and Families shall pay for costs associated with transporting those students that the department places outside of the school district in which such student resides and for those students whose residency cannot be determined.

Statement of Purpose:

To reduce the costs to school districts for student placements made by the Department of Children and Families.
