AN ACT CONCERNING INTEREST ON SECURITY DEPOSITS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 47a-21 of the general statutes be amended to repeal the requirement that landlords pay one and one-half per cent interest on security deposits and to instead provide that such interest shall be at a rate equal to the standard savings interest rate for banks in the state.

Statement of Purpose:

To bring the interest rate on security deposits in line with current interest rates.
