REP. VARGAS, 6th Dist. |
AN ACT CONCERNING PARENTAL OBLIGATIONS FOR THE SUPPORT OF A CHILD WHO IS ENROLLED IN AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION OR A PRIVATE OCCUPATIONAL SCHOOL.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subsection (c) of section 46b-56c of the general statutes be amended to require the court, after finding that it is more likely than not that the parents would have provided educational support for the child if the family were intact, to consider the difference in the actual income and the income potential of the parents in addition to the other considerations enumerated in said subsection.
Statement of Purpose:
To require the court to consider the differences in the actual income and earning potential of both parents when evaluating the educational support of a child who is enrolled in an institute of higher education or a private occupational school.
