AN ACT CONCERNING INPATIENT COMMITMENT OF SEX OFFENDERS WHO ARE A HIGH RISK FOR REOFFENDING.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 969 of the general statutes be amended to establish a process whereby a sex offender who is determined to be a high risk to reoffend may be civilly committed to a secure inpatient mental health facility until he or she is able to return to society and not reoffend sexually.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure that violent sex offenders do not reoffend.
