AN ACT CONCERNING HOSPITAL CHARGES FOR UNINSURED PATIENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 19a-673 of the general statutes be amended to limit a hospital's charge for a health care service provided to an uninsured patient, whose income is at or below three hundred fifty per cent of the federal poverty level, to one hundred fifteen per cent of the rate that Medicare reimburses the hospital for the same service.

Statement of Purpose:

To limit the amount a hospital can charge for a health care service provided to an uninsured patient with an income level at or below 350% of the federal poverty level to 115% of the rate reimbursed by Medicare for the same service.
