AN ACT STRENGTHENING MUNICIPAL ETHICAL STANDARDS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to prohibit any (1) municipal chief executive officer; (2) member of a municipal legislative body; (3) member of a planning, zoning or combined planning and zoning commission; (4) member of a board of education; (5) superintendent or (6) municipal or board of education purchasing agent from receiving any item exceeding one hundred dollars in value in any year from (A) a firm or any employee of a firm holding or bidding on a contract with such municipality or board of education, or (B) any person with a matter pending before a planning, zoning or combined planning and zoning commission, provided that any municipality with an ethics code adopted pursuant to state law may establish more stringent ethical requirements.

Statement of Purpose:

To establish ethical standards for municipal officials.
