AN ACT CONCERNING THE RULES GOVERNING REGIONAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That, notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes or any special act, municipal charter, home rule ordinance or other ordinance, part III of chapter 164 of the general statutes be amended to require any regional board of education that has a provision in its agreement that requires the presence of at least one member from each member town for any action to be taken at a board of education meeting, that such rule shall not apply to situations in which a member town is entirely absent from two consecutive board of education meetings, and in such cases, the rule requiring all member towns be present shall be suspended and the members who are present shall be authorized to take any action on behalf of the board of education and such action shall be valid, provided a quorum is present.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow for action to be taken at regional board of education meetings.
