AN ACT INCREASING THE FINES FOR ILLEGAL USE OF A CELLULAR TELEPHONE WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 14-296aa of the general statutes, concerning illegal use of a cellular telephone while operating a motor vehicle, be amended to provide that any person who uses a cellular telephone in violation of said section shall be fined two hundred dollars for a first violation, three hundred dollars for a second violation and five hundred dollars for a third or subsequent violation.
Statement of Purpose:
To increase the fine for the first, second and third or subsequent illegal use of a cellular telephone while operating a motor vehicle.
