AN ACT PROHIBITING UTILITY COMPANIES FROM DISCONTINUING SERVICE TO HOUSEHOLDS WITH SENIORS OR CHILDREN.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 16-262c of the general statutes be amended to prohibit any electric, electric distribution or gas company, electric supplier or municipal utility furnishing electricity or gas from terminating service to a residential customer who lacks the financial resources to pay his or her entire account and whose household includes a person sixty-five years of age or older or under eighteen years of age.
Statement of Purpose:
To prohibit utilities from terminating service to customers who lack the financial resources to pay their entire account and whose household includes a person sixty-five years of age or older or under eighteen years of age.
